Si Scott draw. Si Scott jump

When I was thinking about a name for my company, that I am creating, I came up with a name that unknown to me was an exhibition of Si Scott he had a while ago. So, I started looking at every trademark registry I could get my hands for free. I didn't think paying for it would be smart when I could find the information online for free. After about a month or so, I realized that no one had registered this NAME as a trademark or copyright. So I was in the clear.

Well I was wrong....If anybody is from the streets or live by a different code knows that I wasn't free and clear. I had to ask permission from Si Scott himself.

Now I don't know if you know who Si Scott is but;

"Si Scott is among the most notable of the freelance design creatives today. Very much in demand, his work has appeared in Massiv, Computer Arts Magazine, advertising for Casio and The Royal Academy of Arts’ 2006 Summer Exhibition. Drawing since he was very young, Si attended Leeds College of Art and Design where he developed his love for designing his own typefaces. He then went on to Buckinghamshire Chilterns University where he began to expand his methods of expressing himself through graphic design. He has held posts with a number of exclusive London-based studios, including Frost Designs and is currently a part-time lecturer at Leeds College. His work can be found at http://www.siscottdesign.com/ and http://www.somagallery.co.uk./"
I decided to call Mr. Scott in London myself and see if could get his blessing in proceeding.
Well, I called him..... and in his English accent answered;
" Hello?!"
I told him who I was, what I doing, and how I came about the name, etc.. Then asked if he was OK with me using the name.
In his accent he said,
" Sure, no problem! It was just a name. Have at it and good luck!"
Just before we got off the phone I asked if he can send me an email stating what he just told me so I can have it from record. He agreed and sent the email moments later.
Now that was professional courtesy! Always ask never be afraid to voice your wants and do the research to back it.
