Home foreclosures....Who is suffering?

I realize that our great nation is in deep trouble...What happened? Where did it start?
I sit here in my apartment in Mannheim, Germany, looking across the pond wondering is it a good time to come back to the states?
I would like to hear from those of you that are being affected from this instances; Hurricane Ivan, home foreclosed, lost job, or just any problem.

I am sure we would like to hear from people who really count. The working people, the single mothers, working parents, college students, elders, etc....
