Djing has changed so much over the last few decades. I remember when I first saw turntables got to cds and then go to digital formats. I just thought it wasnt truely djing. But, everything has to evovle and progress. So, in a sense I am happy to be able to hear new music with different techniques being applied.
Here you will see and hear Ritchie break down the new advances in technology for dj's to step up and advance the skills.
"Techno artist Ritchie Hawtin has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to incorporating new technology in his DJ sets. From his early days using a Roland TR-909 drum machine and 4 turntables, to his present day set up, Hawtin is one to watch as far as whats-coming-next tech.
Hawtin made a great video explaining his current laptop based DJ rig. The tools he’s using in the demo are Traktor software and an Allen & Heath mixer/MIDI controller combo. Although the software auto-syncs up to four different tracks (which many would consider “cheating”), Hawtin explains that gives him much more room to play with the music in other ways. Fascinating watch, for anyone interested in DJing, live performance and next level gear."
